High school shouldn’t feel like a race with no finish line.

Straightforward, practical therapeutic support for older teens navigating academic burnout, perfectionism, and the pressure of what comes next. Virtual psychotherapy across Pennsylvania.

The pressure to build a perfect resume is unsustainable.

Being a high school junior or senior right now means living in a constant state of performance. Between maintaining a GPA, managing sports or extracurriculars, surviving social media dynamics, and staring down the college application process, the expectations can quickly feel like too much.

You might find yourself dealing with:

  • The Perfectionism Trap: Feeling like a single bad grade or a less-than-perfect test score ruins your entire future.

  • Procrastination & Paralysis: Wanting to do so well that starting a simple assignment feels too heavy, leading to constant avoidance.

  • Physical Exhaustion: Waking up tired, dragging yourself through the day, and lying awake at night with a racing mind.

  • Social Fatigue: Managing the daily drama of high school relationships while trying to maintain a brave face.

If you are feeling stuck before your adult life has even officially begun, it makes sense. I can help. I provide a space where you don't have to perform, pretend, or have it all figured out. We work together to untangle the stress, build boundaries with perfectionism, improve family and friend relationships, and figure out how to move forward without burning out.

A Note for Parents: Supporting Your Teen Through the Shift

As a parent, watching your child struggle with chronic stress, withdrawal, or crippling anxiety is beyond difficult. You want to help them succeed, but it can feel like every conversation about school or the future turns into an argument or a wall of silence.

My ten years away from the full-time therapist’s chair raising my own kids taught me a few things that graduate school left out: patience, humility, and the true limits of control. I know how complex family life is, and I know how hard it can be to keep everything running while trying to make meaningful adjustments.

In my practice, I don't treat teenagers like clinical projects to be fixed. I treat them with respect, curiosity, and warmth. I take their concerns seriously without making therapy feel stiff or clinical. My job is to act as a steady, objective sounding board—helping your teen make sense of their internal pressure, see what they might be missing, and build practical tools they will carry with them into college and beyond.

How High School Therapy Works

Do you see clients in person or online?

I offer a flexible approach to working with late-high-school teens. If you live in the Philadelphia area, we can explore in-person or hybrid options. If your family is located anywhere else in Pennsylvania, my secure telehealth services make it simple for your teen to attend sessions right from home without adding another commute to an already packed schedule. Many schools work with families to find time during the school day for juniors and seniors to fit therapy into their schedule at school.

What about privacy and confidentiality?

Therapy works best when a teen knows they have a completely safe, private space to speak honestly. While I legally and ethically maintain your teen's confidentiality, I also value the parent's perspective and will loop you in on general progress, overarching goals, and actionable ways you can support them at home. We will discuss exactly how this balance works during our initial intake. Finding this balance is one of my real strengths. Two decades of working with teens and families has made me comfortable navigating this part of the process. We’ll work at it together and make sure everyone is on the same page.

The first step is a free 15-minute consultation. We can set up a time for a video call or you can simply request that I call you to chat. This allows us to talk briefly about what your teen is experiencing, answer any structural questions you have, and make sure my practical, collaborative style is the right fit for your family.
